As our global footprint continues to spread across the world, we’re looking for a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our Renewables Energy team in a full-time, permanent position.

UL's portfolio of renewable energy solutions help stakeholders plan, design, finance, build, invest, operate, maintain, and manage wind both on land and offshore, and solar throughout the project lifecycle and across the value chain. Working at UL means you will be part of a team delivering proven science, expert engineering, and innovative solutions that address the unique challenges of these industries.

(This role could be performed in Spain or Italy on a fully remote basis or hybrid working, depending on your preference and current location!)

What you’ll learn & achieve:
As the needs of our clients evolve our software needs to evolve with it, which is why at UL we see software development as a craft. From design to deployment, we aim to deliver quality and scalable applications while writing reusable code. In this role, you will be working as part of the data platform team to create the next generation of data management. 
Interface with analysts and engineers to learn about renewable energy.

You’ll contribute to the development of new platform used internally and by external clients. (Windnavigator and WRAP)

You’ll develop both internal and public facing APIs.

You’ll write software documentation to help with code maintainability and user understanding.

What makes you a great fit:

University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Advanced working knowledge in software application or specific program language requirements of software work.

Python, Relational Databases (PostgreSQL), PHP.

Database Management.

Preferred 

Linux server administration, network management knowledge.

GIS knowledge

JavaScript, C++
