Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with technical support centers in South East Asia and East Africa, that provide program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
The Consultant Architect is a part-time, on-call position responsible for a variety of job responsibilities such as meeting with clients and gathering information on project objectives. Responsibilities include conducting site surveys, understanding requirements mandated by international and local codes, and coordinating utility requirements for projects. The architect must ensure project submittals are reviewed and evaluated for any multi-trade issues and coordinate resolutions with the design manager and design team.
Key responsibilities:
Review the Client’s Program of Requirements as per RFP, and other information furnished by the Client and the characteristics of the site.
Review applicable statutes, regulations, codes and by-laws and where necessary review the same with the authorities having jurisdiction.
Coordinate and collaborate with integrated teams of architects, engineers, planners, and interior designers.
Attend Project Kick-off meetings, site investigations, or valuations of existing facilities within the project site. Aid with client engagement to obtain survey, geotechnical, or hazardous materials reports if required.
Conduct Building Assessment evaluations and provide detailed reports of existing buildings/structures based on code compliance, ADA accessibility, and client needs.
Review scopes of work, specifications, plans, and pertinent jurisdictional codes to ensure that project design milestones and deliverable dates are being met while providing contract compliant, cost-effective design solutions to the client.
Comply with the design process to ensure all outstanding design issues that require decision-making are resolved, acting as a solution consultant to architects, engineers, and third-party consultants.
Provide input for the development and implementation of design and construction standards to ensure projects are executed at appropriate levels of quality.
Provide Design Review services across all design phases. Review and provide technically competent and aesthetically sensitive solutions, comments, mark-ups, and inputs to drawings suitable to client requirements.
Provide basic drawings that may include sketches, 2D and 3D Drawings showing ideas and concepts, construction details/documents, presentation drawings, and measured drawings of existing buildings.
Provide signed and sealed construction drawings, specifications, and other required documentation for projects assigned. This may apply to interior and/or exterior work and may include any or all parts of the following: schematic design, design development, development of project renderings, development of construction documents for bidding and permitting, final construction documents, and record drawings. All specifications shall comply with applicable federal, state, and local codes. All drawings and specifications shall be in sufficient detail to obtain fixed construction bids and apply for permits.
Act as a representative of Planate during project construction meetings and ensure that the design is being executed in accordance with issued construction documents, schedule, and budget. This will require knowledge of plans and specifications and may require site visits appropriate to the stage of construction, preparing change orders and construction change directives, inspections, and on-site meetings.
Validate contractor’s mark-ups and other changes that are applicable to the drawings after construction has been completed.
Provide services related to the project including, but not limited to, progress meetings and regulatory approvals. This may include securing necessary approvals and permits for the project, including zoning compliance permits, building permits, demolition permits, site work permits, etc.
Provide support and perform other duties as assigned by the Design Manager.
Qualifications to be successful in the role:
Must be a licensed Architect in Greece.
Knowledgeable in office automation systems in order that several types of software such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
At least 8 years of experience in planning and development of new concepts for long-range recapitalization programs and knowledge of related fields such as civil, structural, electrical, fire protection, mechanical engineering, and Architecture Engineer.
Extensive experience and ability to apply fundamental engineering concepts, terminology, units of measurement (both metric and US), and their inter-relationship common to all branches of architecture, engineering, project management, and financial management.
Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
