Job Details: Database Engineer (OpenStreetMap and PostgreSQL) Position Id: G0723-0039 Job Type: 1-3 months (contract) Pay Rate: Open Job Description:Trigyn has a contractual opportunity for a Database Engineer (OpenStreetMap and PostgreSQL). This resource will be working in Brindisi, Italy.Job Responsibilities:o Manage global OpenStreetMap (OSM) database replica based on PostgreSQL, including the design, implementation and enhancements as necessary.o Monitor daily updates of the Planet.osm in-house replica through regular (daily) diffs.o Optimize and improve the performance of databases and queries.o Manage PostgreSQL objects (roles, permissions, tables, partitioned tables, views, materialized views, schemas, functions, procedures, triggers, backup, restore, data replication and synchronization mechanisms) and perform troubleshooting in case of issueso Manage geodata using open-source geospatial routines such as: ogr2ogr, gdal, osmium, osmosis, imposm and osm2pgsqlo Expertise of PostgreSQL and PostGIS database administration is required.o Proficiency in Linux, Linux Shell Scripting and Python is required.o Expertise on OSM data model (geographic, historic, data formats) and other geospatial data is desirable.o Proficiency in at least one of the GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS Desktop) is desirable.o Basic knowledge of Docker containers, LUA and R is desirable.TRIGYN TECHNOLOGIES is a multinational IT services company with resources deployed in 25 countries.
