Sesto Fiorentino is the Headquarter of Thales Italia. It hosts two Domains: Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) and Security (SIX). The activity of GTS domain: Security systems, telecommunications, supervision, control & management information and signalling solutions for trains, trams and metros. Regarding railway solutions, Thales is the homologated supplier of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana for Axel Counters, Tunnel Security, Energy Saving, SCADA systems and Asset Management. Italy is Thales Group’s competence centre for tramway signalling solutions. The activity of SIX domain: mission critical solutions and applications for assets and citizens security (supervision, control and information management systems) as well as cybersecurity. Thales offers solutions to protect the information systems and critical data of its civilian and military customers and helps its customers to detect and prevent cyberattacks by devising secure architectures from the design stage, overseeing these architectures and ensures that they are kept in secure working order. Italy is Thales Group’s competence centre for Airport security and operations management solutions.

Job Objective

Thales Italia is looking for a DevOps Engineer to speed up and automate developing, testing, releasing and deploying software. The candidate will build, test and maintain infrastructure and tools so that software can be developed, released and deployed.

Duties of a DevOps Engineer include:

Building and implementing new development tools and infrastructure;

Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes;

Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats;

Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and fixes;

Working with software developers and software engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended;

Build tools to reduce occurrence of errors and improve customer experience;

Develop scripts to automate releases and software deploy;

Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.

Profile

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or relevant field.

3+ years of experience as a DevOps in pipelines development, provisioning, operations, and management of Kubernetes environments;

Strong expertise in Kubernetes administration and Kubernetes products ecosystem;

Development and maintain of Kubernetes Operators to manage product lifecycle;

Ability to code and script in multiple languages and automation frameworks like Python and Java;

Understanding of the best cybersecurity practices;

Development and maintenance of gitlab CI/CD pipelines;

Good knowledge of infrastructure automation toolsets like Terraform and Ansible;

Experience of Linux operating systems administration;

Capability to evaluate new technology alternatives and vendor products;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, collaborative team spirit and ability to work in an Agile team environment;

Fluent English.

Required strong knowledge of:

Kubernetes administration;

Linux OS administration;

Gitlab CI/CD Pipelines;

Helm;

Networking basics;

Cybersecurity basics;

Scripting (Python/Bash).

Nice to have:

CKA Certification;

KubeSpray;

Argo CD and Gitops methodology;

Velero;

Ansible;

Terraform;

Azure administration;
