Gorgonzola hosts Navigations Air Systems (NAS) domain. The activity of NAS domain includes avionics, navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots, ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world. Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.
We are currently looking for an Electromechanical Engineer to join Thales Land and Air Systems in its Navaids Center of Competence Gorgonzola (near Milan).
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Design, develop and optimize electro-mechanical solutions for our Navaids & NRS Systems.
Manage the full range of activities related to the electro-mechanical design and also focus on product structure on different product teams.
Prepare the Design & Justification Files (D&JF) and design guidelines.
Guarantee adherence to in-scope standards, reuse policy and product development plans.
Check and review the compliance with Thales Standards before upload them in the system, including the Product configuration activities connected with the Engineering Change Notification management. Work in close collaboration with the hardware, configuration, purchase and industry to develop Mechanical items that are manufacturable, maintainable, cost effective, and reusable.
Required Experience and Skills:
Solid experience in electro-mechanical integration, interconnection between boards, cabling and mechanics.
Solid experience with Structural analysis (static and dynamic loads).
Solid experience with 3D modelling tools (Autodesk Inventor is a plus).
Experience in configuration management, knowledge of the steps to design, develop and maintain a new item or system.
Experience in electro-mechanical design of defense products and solid knowledge of MIL-STD regulations.
Capacity to deliver specifications and reports in an effective and synthetic way.
Ability to work in a team in an international environment and to build and sustain good working relationships with staff, peers and managers, customers and other stakeholders.
Flexibility needed to be integrated in the different stages of a project.
Technical leadership: Capacity to convince on technical concepts in verbal and written forms across different management levels.
Pro-activity to learn from mentors, digital learning and on job training.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering with 5+ years’ experience.
English and Italian fluent is a must.
Ability to speak additional languages such as German or French is a benefit.
The role will require travel for less than 10% of the time.
