pThe project: /ppTerra Innovatum's mission is to make nuclear power accessible. We deliver simple and safe micro-reactor solutions that are scalable, affordable and deployable anywhere 1 Mwe at a time. /ppYou will be joining a fast-growing scaleup developing SOLO – a micro modular reactor – able to provide clean energy and radioisotopes where it is needed. You will be supporting the reactor licensing process in the US at first. /ppYou will support the founding team to scaleup to a leading tech company supplying much needed energy solutions globally. /ppThis is a unique opportunity to join a high performance team developing a global energy solutions leader. /ppWhat you will be working on /ppTerra Innovatum Energy Engineer will be: /pullifocusing on optimizing energy production, efficiency, and sustainability within nuclear power plants and research facilities /lilianalyzing reactor energy output, improving plant efficiency, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental standards /liliworking closely with nuclear operators, mechanical and electrical engineers, and regulatory agencies to enhance the performance and reliability of nuclear energy systems /li /ulpPotential next steps /ppAs the company is growing fast and plans international expansion in 2026, the right candidate will be considered for regional and/or global responsibility. /ppWhat you will be in charge of: /pulliAnalyzing and optimizing the efficiency of nuclear power generation and thermal energy systems. /liliDeveloping strategies to improve energy utilization, reduce waste, and enhance plant performance. /liliWorking with reactor engineers to optimize heat transfer, coolant flow, and turbine efficiency. /liliMonitoring plant performance metrics and conduct energy audits to identify areas for improvement. /liliEnsuring compliance with NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission), DOE (Department of Energy), and environmental regulations. /liliSupporting research and development of new energy technologies, including advanced reactor designs and small and micro modular reactors (SMRs / MMRs). /liliAssisting in nuclear plant upgrades, retrofits, and modifications to enhance energy efficiency. /liliEvaluating alternative energy integration with nuclear power, such as district heating, hydrogen production, and grid resilience. /liliConducting risk assessments and cost-benefit analyses for energy efficiency projects. /liliCollaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers, to improve plant operations. /liliDeveloping technical reports, energy models, and presentations for regulatory bodies and stakeholders. /li /ulpWho we want to work with: /pulliEducation: Master degree in Energy Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. /liliExperience: 3-7 years of experience in energy optimization, power generation, or nuclear engineering (entry-level positions may require internships or co-op experience). /liliCertifications (Preferred): PE (Professional Engineer) license, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or equivalent industry certifications. /liliKnowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and energy conversion in nuclear systems. /liliProficiency in energy modeling software (e.g., RETScreen, MATLAB, Aspen Plus). /liliUnderstanding of turbine systems, steam cycles, and power grid integration. /liliFamiliarity with NRC, DOE, and EPA regulations regarding energy production and environmental impact. /liliAbility to conduct energy audits, life-cycle assessments, and performance evaluations. /liliStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities. /liliEffective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with engineers and regulatory agencies. /liliAttention to detail and a commitment to safety and efficiency. /liliAbility to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a high-stakes environment. /liliExcellent written and verbal communication skills in English /li /ulpPreferred: /pulliIPO experience /liliWritten and oral fluency in Italian /liliAbility to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization /li /ul
