Human Resources Manager – Retail Supports & Services (Full Time)

BWG Foods owns and operates the SPAR, EUROSPAR, MACE, Londis and XL brands in the Republic of Ireland, working in partnership with independent retailers with more than 1,000 stores serving local communities right across the country. The stores serve in excess of one million shoppers every single day.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the purpose of this role is to lead BWG’s bespoke HR Retailer Services to deliver on each brand’s people strategies. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced HR professional who is purpose-driven, with an excellent track record in delivering innovative HR initiatives and solutions.

Some of the core elements of this role will include the following:

The delivery of HR services to retail customers and to the Company Owned Division.

Identify and design effective retailer focused HR solutions to support operational HR activities.

Provide a point of contact for HR expertise and best practice.

Advocate implementation strategies to meet employer obligations and provide employee relations guidance.

Identify and create HR policies and procedures to support retailers in their business.

Ensure all HR operations in the Company Owned Division are implemented to the highest standards.

Contribute to Industry HR Forums representing BWG Foods retailers.

Support the business HR activities and act as a change agent in delivering BWG’s retailer plan.

Manage HR projects as they arise


The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Extensive experience in HR Management in a retail/wholesale or similar environment.

Experienced in acquisitions, HR due diligence, TUPE, payroll, and time & attendance systems.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to network and build strong relationships.

A passion for implementing best practice HR processes and procedures.

Knowledgeable of Irish employment legislation and best practice.

Proven ability to be innovative in the design and implementation of HR initiatives.

Ability to be a strong team player, partnering with and supporting all business functions.

Skill to prioritise team activities and to swiftly identify, resolve and close out HR related matters.

Adaptability, with the ability to balance strategic development and operational delivery through others.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desire for continuous improvement.
