icebreaker : Digital Patternmaker | Senior Technical Designer
As the Digital Patternmaker | Senior Technical Designer, you will be instrumental in executing and owning the Technical Design process of natural merino apparel.
What you will do:
• You will make an impact by maintaining the integrity of the Icebreaker brand, developing products consistent with established fit and sizing standards to ensure fit consistency throughout collections.
• Support our Technical Design Manager and lead the Product Creation team in upholding and executing on the fit strategy for the season.
• Be the brand ambassador for digital pattern engineering and fit excellence.
• Partner with the Global cross-functional product teams to meet style commercialization timelines.
• Uphold brand standards and make recommendations applying technical knowledge related to product fit, pattern, sizing and performance while averting risk and mitigating increase in cost.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Ownership for category specific styles from handover, digital pattern, PLM size chart development through to approval of graded nests for bulk.
• Carry out risk assessment evaluation as early in the process as permits, identify potential problems and make practical suggestions to mitigate risk. Influence and own the outcome.
• Identify gaps in sizing and fit optimization through the creation of new POMs and associated grade rules where these are not yet developed.
• Review and approve samples (virtual, actual) for fit, workmanship and construction.
• Attend and participate in development meetings / virtual fit reviews (live model or body form).
• Lead fit sessions including, but not limited to model selection, scheduling, and model management.
• Pre-fit styles in preparation for fitting including measuring and validating on body form.
• Process styles post-fitting making cost considered pattern alterations and/or providing vendors with corrections through images and clear descriptive comments.
• Identify if there is any risk of the factory not achieving required standards, or if there are additional standards/SOPs required for external stakeholders to close any gaps.
• Partner with the Materials and Quality team with fabric developments and wear testing requirements.
• Participate in and support new initiatives and cross functional projects.

• Establish a strong connection across regions and share experience / learnings regularly.
What we expect you already know:
• Strong digital pattern development skills alongside body sizing standards and grading expertise.
• Experience in working on both jersey and wovens technical apparel, with merino experience, knitwear, and seamless product an advantage.
• Thorough understanding of the end-to-end product creation process specific to technical design.
• Strong working experience and knowledge of product specifications, flat sketching, product fitting, and construction.
• Hands-on attitude towards problem-solving, ability to recommend solutions and efficiencies on process or product to achieve best outcomes.
• A passionate high achiever with drive to deliver best in market product fit-for-purpose.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills, able to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
• Experience in PLM and Adobe Illustrator an advantage.
• Adept at using Optitex, Gerber or similar digital pattern creation software.
• A digital mindset with understanding in 3D pattern making or Digital Product Creation, Vstitcher capability an advantage.
