LASERCOM SYSTEM ENGINEER – ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a LASERCOM SYSTEM ENGINEER to help shape the future of space optical communications. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and a strong team player. We seek a results-driven individual who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly in the areas of mechanical engineering, electronics, and operations.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO
System level activities related to the design and realization of Optical Ground Stations for Laser Communication and/or Satellite Laser Ranging, including:
System definition and sizing
Sub-system requirements downflow, definition and management
Definition and management of interfaces
Establishment and maintenance of relevant performance budgets
Analysis and simulation activities
Definition of verification approach
Contribution to integration and verification activities
Preparation of documentation
Identification and coordination of subcontractors and supervision of their activities
I/F with Customer
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OPTICAL ENGINEER
Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or physics
Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in optical systems for laser communication
Experience in one or more of the following application areas:
Free space satellite optical communication
Laser beam propagation
Knowledge of Matlab/Python/Octave
Knowledge of Office
Results-oriented, reliable, proactive approach and a good team working attitude
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE
Relevant technical knowledge in one of these areas:
Adaptive optics and wave front sensing technology
Laser physics and photonics
Optical communication
Pointing acquisition and tracking
Knowledge of software tools for the design and simulation of optical communication systems
Knowledge of Zemax
