The role is instrumental in Diageo’s journey to become the most innovative, trusted and most respected consumer goods company in the world.The Liquid Development Specialist, European Spirits has responsibility for:Supporting R&D during liquid concept development stage of NTW InnovationsLeading the liquid commercialization activities across a wide variety of liquid types, from Low/No-Alc and Cocktails to distilled spirits and formulated products in general.Supporting the ideation and execution of the Productivity and Sustainability liquid agendaThe BC&I Team for European Spirits Category manage one of the most complex liquid, format, and Supply chain portfolios within our business, given the emerging technologies that we are working within.The European Spirits BC&I pipeline is a complex matrix of pipelines across different Spirit Categories/Brands/Markets/Innovation Hubs, completed through a diverse Supply Footprint including Diageo production sites, JVs, and several Third-Party Operations spread across GB and Continental Europe.The role will require to work in partnership with Innovation, Breakthrough Innovation, Brands, R&D, Global Technical, Procurement, Spirit Supply, Production Sites and external Suppliers. The Liquid Development Specialist will implement best in class “concept to commercialization” of liquid formulations adhering to the Brand Legacy Framework for each Brand.Key Accountabilities:Deliver processes that ensures the Health and Safety of our consumers. Work in a way that ensures compliance with our Diageo Code of Business conduct (H+S, HMRC, Financial compliance etc).Maintain and develop technical ability to be recognised as a global expert in formulated products and distilled spirits production. Apply technical knowledge to solving complex problems for Diageo.Supply fully commercialized liquids to the chosen production site.Partnering with technical functions to shape the future of Diageo by powering progress competitively advantaged supply chains (Enable Growth and Drive Profitability by influencing cash and costs).Apply technical knowledge and experience to lead solution to problems on processes at GBS and non GBS production sites.Build and maintain excellent relationships to enable delivery (i.e. Brand Owners, Markets, Innovation, Suppliers, Technology providers)Support Brand Teams with concepting, storytelling and media work where required.Qualifications and ExperienceDegree level experience within a relevant science or engineering degree.Relevant experience within Food Technology or Chemistry backgrounds with experience in food & beverage development and production (i.e. processing, microbiology, flavours, legal requirements, packaging, market research etc) preferred.Knowledge of the science and technology of distilled spirits production including co-products and process control.Application of innovative scientific (breakthrough innovation) or technical knowledge such as regenerative agricultureAbility to successfully lead cross functional, multi-disciplinary teams, both locally and globally located stakeholders, providing clarity and ability to cut-through ambiguity.Ability to move between research and commercialization phases and to implement risk management practices and techniques. Excellent organisation, report preparation, and presentation skills.Understanding customer and business needsCultural awareness, ability to flex communication style and excellent interpersonal skillsMust be a great teammate with proven interpersonal skills.
