The Material Planner & Production Planner is responsible for ensuring efficient and timely planning of materials and production processes to meet customer demand, manage inventory levels, and optimize production efficiency. This role involves coordinating between suppliers, production teams, and inventory management to ensure the smooth flow of materials and resources throughout the production cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Planning :
Develop and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) based on production schedules and sales forecasts.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials to meet production needs.
Monitor inventory levels and adjust order quantities to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
Track material shortages and expedite procurement to avoid production delays.
Maintain accurate records of material flow, inventory transactions, and purchase orders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable and cost-effective material sourcing.
Negotiate lead times with suppliers in coordination with the procurement team.
Production Planning :
Create and maintain detailed production schedules in coordination with the production team.
Ensure production plans align with customer demand, resource availability, and production capacity.
Adjust production schedules in response to changes in demand, supply chain disruptions, or production issues.
Work closely with cross-functional teams including production, quality, and logistics to ensure smooth production processes.
Monitor production performance, identify bottlenecks, and recommend process improvements.
Inventory Management :
Ensure optimal inventory levels by balancing stock availability with demand and lead times.
Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure accurate inventory records and reduce discrepancies.
Data Analysis and Reporting :
Analyze data related to production performance, material consumption, and inventory levels to support decision-making.
Prepare reports on production output vs planned, material usage, and supplier performance for management review.
Utilize ERP systems to manage production and material planning data.
Key Qualifications:
Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or Economics.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:
APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) or other relevant supply chain certifications.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Knowledge of supply chain management best practices and demand forecasting techniques.
Work Environment:
Office and manufacturing environment.
Some travel to suppliers or other company sites may be required.
