We are looking for a Project Controller to work ideally at ESRIN’s premises in Frascati, Italy; however working from ESTEC’s base in Noordwijk, Netherlands, is also possible.

In this role, you will perform a range of project control tasks, interacting with other key stakeholders inside the European Space Agency (such as Finance and Procurement Services), and also outside the Agency.

About the client and location

The ESA Centre for Earth Observation (ESRIN) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Frascati, Italy. From this location ESA conducts most of their earth observation research, including data analysis and distribution for other non-ESA satellites.

The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) is the European Space Agency’s (ESA) base in Noordwijk, the Netherlands. As ESA’s largest test centre, it is responsible for the majority of space technology and spacecraft development through varying phases of production.

This position is open to protected categories under Italian Law 68/99 (“Rules for the right to work of disabled people”).

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Preparing, administrating and monitoring of Project procurement actions (Contracts, Purchase Orders, etc.) within ESA SAP system (ESA-P) or other tools as required.
  • Support the preparation, maintenance and reporting on the overall programmatic aspects of the project/programmes activities.
  • Support the preparation, maintenance and reporting on status of the project Cost At Completion, including annual cost plans and manpower planning.
  • Supporting programme/project level risk management.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent, or MBA, or equivalent university degree from a recognised Institution of secondary studies or equivalent qualification in Business Administration.
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience as a user of SAP and in particular ECC and SRM modules.
  • Knowledge of project control methods.
  • Knowledge of Milestone Payment Plans.
  • Advance usage of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to rapidly understand and adapt to ESA specific context and environment including ESA corporate IT applications.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of another official ESA language is an asset.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

  • Familiarity with relevant ESA corporate applications e.g. ESA-P).
  • Knowledge of ESA procure to pay process.
  • Past experience with ESA in relevant activities.
  • Knowledge of Power BI and Power Query.
  • Knowledge of Power Automate and Microsoft 365.
