This position leads and makes multiple decisions on technical-based projects. It requires development toward “expert” status in at least one broad area or a related specialized area.

POSITION CHALLENGES:

1. Accountable for solving complex technical problems related to products and processes, demonstrating significant knowledge of chemicals, raw materials, substrates, and instruments.
2. Provide timely and accurate solutions to moderate to difficult company problems.
3. Develop methods of moderate complexity as an individual contributor, team member, or team leader.
4. Contribute to the assessment, development, reformulation, quality, maintenance, and enhancement of products through planning, executing, and analyzing experiments with clear and accurate results, considering economic advantages. The goal is to develop products that demonstrate perceptible and desirable improvements and differences.
5. Adhere to company safety guidelines at all times.

Qualifications:

• Degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or relevant Science.
• 5+ years of formulative experience in Coatings.
• Broad awareness of division business knowledge and Sherwin-Williams products.
• Experience in identifying various types of contamination on field samples.
• Knowledge of investigating coating failures and understanding necessary analyses.
• Excellent knowledge of analytical chemistry beyond coatings.
