Job Description

We are working with a renewable energy platform to appoint a Senior Grid Expert who will take technical ownership of grid connection and compliance activities for utility-scale solar PV and hybrid projects in Italy.

Our client develops and operates large-scale solar projects and is actively expanding its Italian portfolio. Grid compliance, bankability, and technical robustness are central to its engineering strategy.

The Role

Sitting within the engineering function, the Senior Grid Expert will lead all grid-related technical activities, ensuring projects are designed, authorised, and delivered in full compliance with Italian grid codes and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage grid connection processes for utility-scale solar PV and PV + BESS projects.
• Act as the primary technical interface with the TSO, DSOs, and regulatory authorities.
• Review, validate, and oversee grid studies including load flow, short-circuit, and compliance analyses.
• Ensure adherence to grid codes, CEI standards, and regulatory frameworks.
• Define and optimise MV/HV connection solutions, substations, and transformer configurations.
• Support permitting processes through preparation and review of grid documentation.
• Coordinate EPCs, consultants, and equipment suppliers on grid-related matters.
• Assess grid capacity, constraints, and curtailment risks during development.
• Contribute to standardisation and continuous improvement of internal grid engineering practices.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus on power systems.
• Extensive experience in grid engineering for solar PV projects in Italy.
• Proven track record working with the Italian TSO and/or DSOs.
• Strong knowledge of grid codes, standards, and authorisation processes.
• Proficiency in power system analysis tools (e.g. DIgSILENT, PSSE, ETAP).
• Fluent Italian and English.
