pbr/pstrongPosition Summary /strongpSibylla Biotech is looking for an outstanding and highly motivated senior medicinal chemist with experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry to join its multidisciplinary team located in Bresso (MI), Italy. Sibylla is the exclusive licensee of an innovative technology named Pharmacological Protein Inactivation by Folding Intermediate Targeting (PPI-FIT), which enables the identification of small molecules that promote the degradation of a target protein by interfering with its folding pathway. Such a new technology paves the way for the selective degradation of previously undruggable proteins. The application of our computational platform enables the characterization of previously unexplored protein conformations (folding intermediates) that can be exploited as new drug targets. The computational methods developed by Sibylla Biotech have been used to develop new pharmacological strategies for prion diseases (Spagnolli et al. 2021) and for COVID-19 (Massignan et al. 2021). This senior-level position offers the opportunity to lead and innovate within Sibylla’s medicinal chemistry team, driving the design and optimization of folding interfering small molecules. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing our pipeline from hit identification through lead optimization and candidate selection. The target role is that of principal scientist, but other roles, such as that of director, may be evaluated according to seniority. The position is to be considered in person in Milan. /ppbr/pstrongKey Responsibilities /strongulliSupport medicinal chemistry activities across various therapeutic projects, encompassing stages from initial hit discovery to lead optimization and preclinical development. /liliDesign and implement medicinal chemistry strategies for the discovery and optimization of small molecules, integrating physics- and AI-based computational and cheminformatics tools throughout the process. /liliApply advanced medicinal chemistry principles, including structure-activity relationships (SAR), ligand- and structure-based drug design, and computational chemistry approaches. /liliOversee the synthesis of organic molecules at CROs, ensuring efficient progression of compounds through the pipeline. /liliAssist in making critical go/no-go decisions for the advancement of chemical series and drug candidates. /liliStay current with emerging trends in medicinal chemistry and incorporate innovative approaches into discovery programs. /liliInterface with external collaborators, contract research organizations, and academic partners. /liliPartner effectively with multidisciplinary project teams, including biology, pharmacology, DMPK, safety assessment, and clinical development. /liliPresent scientific findings at internal meetings and external conferences. /liliContribute to developing and implementing patent strategies, safeguarding intellectual property, and preparing patent applications. /liliFoster a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented team environment. /liliContribute to the professional development of team members through coaching and training. /li /ulpbr/pstrongQualifications /strongulliThe ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry or a closely related field with 10+ years of relevant experience in biotech or pharma. /liliWork experience in the drug discovery and development industry.
