Auxologico is looking for a Senior Postdoc in the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Genetics that will direct and supervise the genetic activities of the lab.
The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team with expertise in clinical cardiology, human genetics, electrophysiology, and stem cell biology. She/he will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the genetic part of the laboratory, providing guidance for diagnostic genetic interpretation, developing novel assays for genetic variant classification and patient risk stratification, developing research projects in cardiovascular genetics, and coordinating with the bioinformatic unit and the functional unit.
The candidate will actively participate in grant writing alongside other members of the lab and will be strongly encouraged to apply for her/his own grant applications.
In particular, the candidate will:
develop genetic assays to predict the arrhythmic risk of variants of unknown significance;
develop assays to improve the risk stratification of patients affected by congenital or acquired channelopathies and cardiomyopathies;
communicate with the bioinformaticians for data analysis and interpretation;
combine clinical and genetic datasets in structured databases;
contribute to the writing of research papers;
assist in the supervision of PhD students and contribute to the lab requirements;
present scientific works at national and international meetings.
Requirements:
PhD in human genetics, biology, biotechnology, molecular medicine, or similar fields;
Good knowledge of written and spoken English;
Marked interest in the field of cardiac arrhythmias and/or genetics;
Proven expertise in genetic screenings and analyses;
Knowledge of Next-Generation Sequencing, library preparation, and analysis;
Knowledge of WES/WGS analysis;
Expertise in coding and bioinformatics will be considered a plus.
Duration of contract:
This appointment will be initially for 1 year, with extensions for up to 4 years renewed according to progress. Further extensions will be evaluated based on additional research funding. Salary will be based on experience.
