ABB is a market leader in fast charging solutions which enable 10-30 min charging time for electric cars and busses, a game changing technology which allows mass adaptation of clean transportation. In this highly technological and rising market, we are developing and supplying this Electrical Vehicle Charger Infrastructure across the globe. Based in our new location in san Giovanni Valdarno (AR), Italy, we are looking for a Senior Engineer for our Product Engineering team.
This position reports to Local Product Engineering Team Leader
Your responsibilities Lead and execute product engineering activities during the life cycle of products after their release for sales.
Transfer all documentation and knowledge of newly developed products from the RnD team to the Product Engineering team. These include but not limited to electrical schematics, bill of material (BOM), working instruction, spare parts list, product manuals, etc.
Ensure transparency around change requests, unforeseen results/events and identified risks and ensure that they are properly managed and communicated.
Create CAD design and maintain BOM of EV charger parts and/or systems, e.g. electromechanics, enclosure, cable management system, pedestals, etc.
Work closely with European/US factory production engineers and colleagues of other functions/locations, to ensure manufacturability/quality/serviceability of the end products.
Customize global EV charger designs to comply with local regulations/customer requirements.
Engage external parties, as necessary, to make sure your work is done properly.
Leverage internal and/or external resources to complete tasks and reach milestones.
Additional/growing responsibility may include:
Manage the cost, schedule and performance objectives of projects and its work packages within a global organization.
Manage interdependencies between cross-functional workstreams to realize specified deliverables and benefits.
Work closely with technical product owners, product manager, operation units, sales units, development teams, to provide the best solution to fulfill the business case and meet customer satisfaction in terms of response and delivery time, quality level and product performance.
Manage all products variants and customization requests. Ensure all requirements are captured and acted upon by partnering with relevant business unit(s) and/or external resources.
Your background A master’s degree or similar with a solid technical background (electronics engineering, industrial engineering) with minimum 2 years working experiences; bachelor with 5 years of working experiences is also considered.
Experiences as a design engineer, with solid industrial engineering and good electrical understanding.
Project management skills are a plus.
Product standard compliance/certification design experience is a plus.
Knowledge of thermal management, standardization is a plus.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Proactivity, teamwork skills, problem-solving and result orientation will complete your profile.
