Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Mining Team at their Lihir Gold Operations (LGO).

The Company: 

Our client, Lihir Gold Limited operates one of the largest gold mines in Papua New Guinea 900kms northeast of Port Moresby on the tropical Niolam Island (Lihir Island). Lihir is a hard rock surface gold operation, ore is refractory and treated using pressure oxidation before the gold is recovered by a conventional leach process.

The Role:

We are seeking a Senior Structural Integrity Engineer to provide daily interaction with and advice to Operations Control-Room staff based on current equipment health status and the factors required for reliable plant performance.

This role is responsible for developing inspection and maintenance plans for structural equipment on site. Ensuring that any actions arising from inspection activities are fully reported and communicated with the maintenance superintendents, reliability superintendents, and maintenance and reliability engineers.

Other key accountabilities include:
Conduct inspections on steel structures
Conducts minor repair and assessment scopes
Observe operating activities controlled by SAOC plant operators
Provide advice to SAOC operators and maintenance supervisors when malfunctions/failures arise
Provide effective technical advice to the inspectors and engineers, ensuring threats are evaluated, procedures are followed, and work is completed in accordance with the company technical procedures
Monitor all sources of equipment health for example Optimum
Develop Risk Based Inspection Strategies
Strive to build and maintain a healthy work relationship between all parties
Monitor major maintenance activities in the plant
Maintain close contact with maintenance supervisors
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
5+ years of relevant work experience (essential)
Tertiary qualification in Structural Integrity Engineering (essential)
Accreditation from the Institute of Engineers PNG Inc
The ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of:
Current asset management/reliability engineering concepts and methodologies (essential)
Fixed plant maintenance and reliability engineering roles in minerals processing (essential)
Use of various company & departmental systems including SAP (essential)
Computer proficiency in MS Office suite (essential)
This is a FIFO role. 
Ability to provide/obtain valid police clearance within the last six months.
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
