Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for all activities at the Jazz manufacturing facility in Villa Guardia, Italy.

The position will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing, to ensuring policies and procedures are followed.

Responsible for developing processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, environment, quality and productivity.

Responsible for fostering a culture in line with Jazz values while maintaining a high performance, results-orientated manufacturing operation.

Ensure that standards of quality and GMP aspects expected of an FDA/EMA (and major MoH organizations) approved plant are met.

Foster and manage the Gentium CMO business to deliver the expected quantity and quality of product to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the plant operating plan to meet annual financial goals in terms of operational and capital budgets, in line with Technical Operations objectives.
Within the Global Manufacturing organization set annual performance targets and objectives for the facility. Ensure targets are achieved.
Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to meet the agreed objectives. Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets. Report and manage variances as appropriate
Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping of product, in a cost-effective manner while ensuring maximum asset utilization and allocation of resources.
Implement a LEAN operating culture to maximize employee engagement while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining required quality standards
Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus for plant operating staff (Site Vision and Road Map).
Develop optimal working relationship within the plant management team and general staff.
Recruit, manage and develop plant staff in line with the company’s HR focus to achieve superior results in terms of staff motivation and engagement
Ensure compliance with all appropriate safety and environment standards relevant to plant activities.
Establish and maintain management systems and communications within the site and also with external stakeholders (e.g. Technical Operations Leadership, Global Manufacturing, etc).
Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, planning and labour regulations.
Collaborate with the integrated Environment & Safety management system to manage manufacturing activities and emergencies and, in general, to achieve the targets of the environmental & safety management system.
Participate in the periodic review of the management, contributing to define the environmental & safety policy.
Attend education and training courses on the Environmental & Safety Management System, GMP and Quality training courses on Procedures, Instructions, Manuals and Operational Protocols.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current pharmaceutical management best practices and concepts
Contribute to the development of cost-effective manufacturing strategies to appropriately support the business, in line with the Tech Ops operating model
Manage the CMO business, including manufacturing and business development functions. Act as the primary representative and business development lead for the external business.
Ensure compliance with Law Decree 231 on Company’s Corporate Responsibility.
With the support of the administrative, legal and tax departments ensure compliance with local statutory financial requirements, business and tax laws.
Prepares financial reports for management that explain operational effectiveness, trends and variances.
Manages the relationship with the trade unions and government officials. Understands the government regulations affecting the Site’s operations, ensuring the entity is operated in compliance with all applicable laws.
Support appropriate Technical Operations management teams as required to meet with overall business objectives.
Represent Jazz leadership within the local community, as required, consistent with corporate communication procedures and guidelines.
Act under the obligations and duties as Chief of the Board of Direction of Gentium srl.
Responsible for the continuous training of staff.
Fulfill the obligations as an Employer pursuant to art. 18 D.Lgs. 81/08.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Laws, Codes, corporate standards and Procedures related to his/her area of responsibility, in particular requirements of the Jazz Pharmaceuticals Code of Conduct.
