Overview
Sustainability and innovation are at the core of the Stella McCartney brand. Every decision we make is a symbol of our commitment to defining what the future of fashion looks like. Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer, Stella McCartney, the Sustainability Director, in cooperation with the Chief Sustainability Officer develops the global sustainability and social impact vision and strategy, whilst overseeing a team in the delivery of measurable improvements in sustainability performance across the organisation and supply chain. As a recognised industry expert, the Sustainability Director is the driving force for positive change across the Stella Community and business ecosystem.
Your Mission:
Devise and lead the direction of a comprehensive sustainability strategy across the three spheres of sustainability: Environmental, Social and Economic.
Responsible for the management of our supply chain sustainability agenda including human rights and ethical trading across our client and supply chain network.
Ensure continuation of sustainability and innovation through the business ecosystem, advising and driving commitment across the organization.
Responsible for maintaining Stella McCartney’s sustainability commitments, policies and standards.
Responsible for the CSRD and Impact reports and monitoring progress against the Stella McCartney sustainability objectives.
Ensure compliance across European Regulations (e.g. CSRD) and all local regulations, as well as managing various regulation related projects (e.g. traceability and digital passport).
Manages the overall sustainability budget in line with expectations.
Leads a team situated in both London and Milan.
Works closely with the internal teams across the business from Design, Merchandising, Production, Logistics, Store Planning, Finance, Marketing and Communications to ensure the agenda is front of mind and relevant training and action plans are in place.
Your Talent:
Demonstrable senior experience, in a leadership and influential position focused on sustainability and social impact.
Passionate about creating meaningful change in the fashion industry.
Experience with stakeholder engagement with key groups including but not limited to employees, consumers, NGOs, communities, and other individuals/entities of influence.
Strong technical understanding of sustainability topics such as animal welfare, climate change, biodiversity and the circular economy.
Excellent communication and presentation skills. Can communicate with impact and can inspire, excite and challenge our company leaders.
A proven record of delivering targets and results oriented.
Strategically minded with good commercial awareness.
Experience of operating in a complex, fast-paced environment.
Ability to understand and analyze information to be able to recommend informed solutions to problems.
Previous experience of leading and developing a team.
Systems and Essentials
Masters-level degree in sustainability or related qualification ideal.
Competent IT skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
